People & ideas at Deutsche Börse
Release date: 23 Jul 2025
For Cosmina Visan, being part of society means giving back to it – a belief that shapes both her personal and professional life. Through her career at Deutsche Börse Group and her deep commitment to sustainability, Cosmina exemplifies how professional growth can go hand-in-hand with social responsibility.
Her journey began right after university, when she joined Deutsche Börse Group as an intern. Within a month, she secured a role on the Sales and Relationship Management team at Clearstream in London. There, she learned from senior relationship managers and gained insights into client relationships, which she still relies on today.
By taking on significant responsibilities early in her career, such as managing her own clients, Cosmina advanced quickly. “I saw this as a vote of confidence quite early on in my career. It gave me a pretty big challenge, but also motivation to keep progressing in the role,” Cosmina says. Now, she is a project manager on one of Clearstream's key projects, actively shaping the company's core strategy and breaking new ground.
For Cosmina, gaining a client's trust and providing quality service is priority. “One day, you could be pitching a high-level idea to a client; the next, you could be ensuring their account opens on time. Both are just as important,” she explains. From her roots in Romania to her career in the UK, Cosmina’s “European story” is an exciting one.
When action creates impact
Beyond her love for staying active and reading, Cosmina has a deep interest in sustainability. “We’re all part of an ecosystem. Everything we do has a ripple effect – that's why even the smallest actions toward improving our environment matter,” Cosmina says.
She sees the impact this can have firsthand through her involvement in the London Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Group. It is a joint initiative of employees in Deutsche Börse Group’s London office and organizes various activities related to sustainability and volunteering. As one of their members, Cosmina organized local events in context of the Group Sustainability Day 2024 and contributes to numerous other projects. One of them was especially close to her heart: a volunteering day at a local city farm. Children learned about the food they eat daily and got closer to nature. “Generally, you should know where your food comes from, but it’s not a given. That's why we should support this the best we can and get as many helpers involved as possible,” Cosmina mentions.
Stay informed and do what you can
To be able to have an impact, Cosmina stays informed. Since earning a qualification from the Chartered Financial Analysts Institute, she has explored how sustainability intersects with her work – particularly in investing. Her goal: to understand how different perspectives can help shape a more sustainable financial world.
Her advice for everyone who wants to make a difference? “Stay informed about current developments in your field – and just do what you can on a regular basis. Every small action with a positive impact counts.”
